AvePoint CEO TJ Jiang: Innovation Through Collaboration

The latest CRM trends “are part of the whole movement toward digitization of the workforce,” said AvePoint CEO TJ Jiang. “We see much more integration and automation in the CRM space. We’ve been working, for instance, to digitize a social welfare organization, where caseworkers will go in the field to service underprivileged children. … Historically, it’s all been paper-based. Now, before they walk into the conversation, they already have the case history, and as they interview, that data is sent in real time.”

Mining the Customer Base

One of the biases inherent in CRM is its orientation toward new business. This might sound strange to most people, but really, I think of it as the startup echo chamber. It’s a bias in part because CRM was invented by new companies for new companies. However, the “C” part, customer, involves more than simply acquiring new ones, especially for established companies. Customers are people who pay money for products and services. Prospects can be thought of as incipient customers, and they are CRM’s sweet spot.

iAd Shakeup May Be in the Works

Apple is phasing out its iAd sales team and moving toward an automated system, according to news reports this week. Then-CEO Steve Jobs launched iAd six years ago to provide an alternative to existing mobile advertising platforms, but it never caught fire. Under the new iAd platform, publishers reportedly will be more easily able to sell directly through the platform, and they’ll be able to keep 100 percent of ad revenues. Currently, Apple takes 30 percent of an ad’s revenue on the network.

Once you’ve started your e-commerce business, one of the first steps toward success is to get the word out about your products. Lighting Up Process

I’ve been saying for a while that we’re heading toward an era when process dominates and traditional transactions become just one part of those processes. Now, you might say that’s the way it’s always been, and I won’t disagree. Historically, however, processes more or less were managed by employees who used information systems to inform their decision-making, and the result was recorded as a transaction. Today we increasingly are asking our machines to run the show.
