T-Mobile’s new Uncarrier move kills lump payments, offers iPhone 6 for $15/month

T-Mobile on Thursday morning announced some big changes to its Jump program. As you might recall, the Uncarrier helped reshape the wireless landscape in the United States by separating the cost of smartphones from monthly service plans. With this new model, wireless subscribers no longer had to continue paying for phones each month even after their full value was recouped by their wireless carriers.

Is T-Mobile Burning Too Hot?

T-Mobile US strikes again with its new Score offering. Score is like its Jump program for the company’s credit-challenged customers. I like all the activity going on at T-Mobile. It is alive once again. That’s the good part. However is it starting to burn too fast and too hot? Jump is T-Mobile’s version of similar plans offered by other carriers — like AT&T Mobility’s Next, Verizon Wireless’ Edge and Sprint’s One Up. There are so many new ideas in the marketplace today that I don’t expect any of them to have a long shelf life.

Adapting to change: a review of Apple's larger 4.7-inch iPhone 6 vs. the smaller 4-inch iPhone 5s

The jump from the iPhone 5 series’s 4-inch form factor to the 4.7-inch display on the iPhone 6 is a big change that might not appeal to everyone. Thankfully, Apple offers a 14-day return policy, and still continues to sell the 4-inch iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, for those who might find themselves with an oversized case of buyers’ remorse.

Microsoft announces Sharks Cove mini PC, a powerful, expensive rival to Raspberry Pi

Sharks Cove in hand
Though it takes Microsoft a while to jump in on an emerging trend, the company does tend to throw its hat into the ring eventually. Despite releasing satisfactory hardware, the company was late to both the modern-day smartphone and tablet scene, hindering its success. This time around — likely thanks to the success of the Raspberry Pi — Microsoft is targeting the mini PC market with the announcement of Sharks Cove.
