Amazon Builds Fulfillment Centers, Investors Grouse

Amazon shares closed at $785.14 on Monday, having failed to rebound from last week’s slide. The company’s stock had closed at $818.36 last Thursday, just before the company reported third-quarter earnings that fell surprisingly short of Wall Street estimates and warned of future revenue weakness. The share price dove $40-plus on Friday. Amazon’s net income rose to $252 million, or 52 cents a share, in the quarter, but analysts had expected 78 cents a share. Operating income rose to $575 million, compared with $406 million a year ago.

It's Time for Comcast to Get Off the Wireless Fence

Comcast tried to give wireless a go several years ago. It failed. It pulled out of wireless, sold its spectrum and was done. Now, wireless has expanded and changed, and competitors like AT&T’s U-verse and DirecTV are using wireless to deliver television programming. I’ll bet Comcast now wishes it never sold off its wireless spectrum. So, what can we expect from the company going forward in the wireless space? If it jumps in again, will it be successful this time around?
Comcast recently acknowledged it was weighing its options in wireless.

Is Comcast, TWC Dead or Just Sleeping?

Now that the Comcast, Time Warner Cable merger deal has failed, what’s next? I think it’s likely that if Time Warner Cable is still around, the deal might be tried once again in a few years after the industry has transformed itself. Comcast obviously is still interested in expanding with Time Warner Cable and will try this merger dance again in a few years. This has worked before. Where, you ask? Think about AT&T over the last 10 to 15 years as one example. AT&T was the largest telephone company in the world during the last century.
