As someone who tracks new technology and is always on the lookout for a better communications solution, I migrated to a VoIP service through Vonage early after its introduction. The service was great. I had great call quality and the flexibility to take the service anywhere. That went on until Cox Communications purchased my cable provider. Once Cox took over in our area, the call quality on Vonage deteriorated until the service became unusable.

Amazon Firing Spree Follows Fire Phone Flop


Amazon reportedly has given the boot to dozens of engineers who worked on its ill-fated Fire Phone. The purged staffers worked at Lab126, Amazon’s secretive Silicon Valley-based hardware development center. Amazon also scaled back or killed off several other Lab126 projects, including a large-screen tablet, according to the report, and it reorganized the center to combine two hardware units into one. Investors apparently like the move — Amazon’s stock rose by 3.51 percent on Thursday, closing the day at $518.37.
