Onvia on Tuesday launched a new service for companies selling to the public sector. The service provides access to detailed materials associated with a given solicitation, including all submitted proposals, the awarded bid, the final contract, and the agency’s scoring criteria. Onvia “helps clients succeed in pursuing government contracts,” said Ben Vaught, director of Onvia for Government. “We equip them with data and tools that cover the processes of searching and screening leads, then qualifying and pursuing opportunities.”

Faulty Taptic Engine Could Make Apple Watch Rollout Sputter


A production snag in making the component that provides tactile feedback in the Apple Watch could impact its availability in coming weeks. Apple was having problems obtaining sufficient vibration motors for its taptic engine, it was reported two weeks ago. Those problems apparently have worsened. Quality control problems with the Chinese maker of the component reportedly have forced Apple to move nearly all manufacturing of the unit to a Japanese company. Delays in the availability of the watch could occur as it ramps up production.

FreedomPop's $5 WiFi Plan Whittles Wireless Bills


FreedomPop on Wednesday announced a new plan that provides Android smartphone users with access to 10 million WiFi hotspots across the U.S. for $5 a month. That sum will give any smartphone or tablet — regardless of any carrier service it might have — unlimited talk, text and data on FreedomPop’s WiFi hotspot network. Users will have to download FreedomPop’s Android app. An iOS version will be unveiled later, but the company apparently has no plans to offer a Windows Phone version.
