Walmart Pursues Amazon at Jet Speed


Walmart on Monday announced that it plans to acquire Jet.com, paying $3 billion in cash and another $300 million worth of Walmart shares. Google Expands Bug Bounty Program


Since 2010, when it began paying security researchers to find flaws in its programs, Google has paid more than US$4 million to bug hunters. Now it’s prepared to pay even more. The company announced Friday that it’s expanding its Security Rewards Programs to include payments to researchers before they find bugs in Google’s software. It’s also broadening the reach of its Vulnerability Reward Program to include all mobile applications officially developed by Google and distributed at the Google Play and iTunes stores.

Priceline Hits the Sweet Spot With OpenTable Bid


Priceline last week announced an agreement to buy OpenTable for US$2.6 billion. Priceline is paying $103 per share for the online restaurant reservation service in the all-cash transaction. The companies are positioning the deal as a synergistic play in which they will be able to enhance services for both of their customer bases.
OpenTable will provide Priceline with an entrée into the restaurant marketing services space. There is also the company’s “highly-valued” booking experience, Darren Huston, president and CEO of Priceline noted.
