Cloud Training to Boost Competitive Advantage Strategies

One of the biggest challenges facing organizations of all sizes trying to move to the cloud is finding and retaining the skilled workers necessary to implement today’s rapidly expanding assortment of on-demand services. This skills gap cost companies more than $250 million in lost business opportunities in just one year, according to a recent survey conducted by the London School of Economics. The 2017 study polled 1,900 IT professionals and executives in the U.S., UK, Europe, Mexico, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong.

Most Businesses Want Agility but Few Have It

Many organizations recognize that agility enables better responses to changing business conditions, but few have taken the necessary steps to reach that goal. Although two-thirds of the respondents to a recent CA Technologies survey saw value in business agility, only about 12 percent said their organizations were on their way to achieving it. “Success today requires that companies quickly sense and adapt to changes, pivot to address market changes and customer needs, and do so at scale,” said Surya Panditi, general manager of agile management.

Is SaaS Slipping Into the Legacy App Abyss?

Everywhere you look, organizations are shifting their software acquisition preferences and policies away from traditional, on-premises legacy applications to a new generation of on-demand SaaS solutions. Although I was an early advocate of SaaS, I’m becoming concerned that many leading SaaS vendors and their enterprise customers are taking actions that significantly compromise the fundamental value of SaaS. As the old adage goes, “the more things change, the more they remain the same.”

Federal Agencies Mirror Commercial Websites for Encryption

Private and public sector organizations share a common goal in hosting Internet websites: making sure that connections with customers and citizens are secure. However, complete security is not yet universal in either sector. Google and Mozilla are among many entities promoting Internet security via the adoption of Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure technology, or HTTPS, versus the basic and less secure HTTP technology that underpins Internet service. Within the public sector, the federal CIO and the GSA are promoting HTTPS as well.

CRM innovations in recent years have had a significant impact on campaigns and nonprofit organizations, according to CFB Strategies President Trace Anderson. “Traditionally in the campaign world, it was an old-school mentality of just collecting checks,” he said. “Even when I started working in politics, from 2006 to 2008, everything was done by hand.
