Zyme CCO Ted Dimbero: Connecting the Channel Data Dots

“Channel data management is about providing high-tech companies with all the data and information they need to effectively manage their distribution channels, sales and marketing,” said Zyme CCO Ted Dimbero. “Traditionally, companies have relied on managing the channel fairly blindly. They may get monthly data, but a lot of the data is incomplete or too late to make important decisions, like what promotions they want to run.” CDM starts with data collection, Dimbero said — in some cases from two or three thousand partners around the world.

The Technological Evolution of US Healthcare

The disease management industry, which focuses on reducing or delaying the use of expensive treatments or costly procedures, has passed its prime as a unique approach to controlling escalating costs attributed to chronic conditions. It worked on the sickest of the sick, but as patient conditions progressed and engagement levels decreased, it gradually lost its effectiveness. The industry hit a growth ceiling when health clients no longer found that cost savings justified the high care management fees charged by DM companies.

Report: 100 Ways to Improve Federal Cybersecurity

The U.S. government was shaken last year when the Office of Personnel Management disclosed that employment records affecting 21.5 million people had been breached. The Obama administration initiated several comprehensive actions designed to shore up federal data protection — including an immediate 30-day cybersecurity sprint. A parallel initiative that the American Council for Technology and the Industry Advisory Council launched in July revealed that federal agencies still have a long way to go to strengthen cybersecurity performance.

NIST Seeks Business Partners to Boost Email Security

The controversy over the management of email systems by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been in the spotlight since March. More recently, the CIA director acknowledged that his personal email had been hacked. Both situations highlight the continuing vulnerability of email. That’s why the National Institute of Standards and Technology has launched an initiative to help both public and private organizations improve email security. A key element of NIST’s initiative is to engage the private sector for assistance.

PRM's Next Act

Partner relationship management has seen its ups and downs over the first part of this century. Running an indirect channel is vitally important to any vendor trying to extend its reach without incurring the high costs of building up a sales team and all that supports it. Many vendors figure it’s more economical to pay partners for performance than to endure the corporate buildout, and they have a good point. That said, the indirect channel isn’t for every business.

OPM's Latest Bad News: 5.6 Million Fingerprints Lifted

The Office of Personnel Management on Wednesday revealed that the hackers who penetrated its records system stole 5.6 million fingerprints of federal employees — five times the 1.1 million originally reported. The cyberattack, which came to light this spring, compromised the Social Security numbers and other sensitive information of 21.5 million people. US Agencies Getting the Hang of Doing More With Less

U.S. government agencies are gradually learning to deal with budget constraints in the management and procurement of information technology. Reports: Federal IT Managers Should Look Forward, Not Back

The dynamic world of information technology calls for a future-oriented approach to IT management. However, government agencies too often may be looking backward rather than forward with respect to how they operate IT systems, especially when it comes to investing huge sums of taxpayer money into those resources. Two recent assessments of government IT make the point. While each report focuses on a different aspect of IT management, the reports reinforce each other in stressing the need for government IT staffs to break with past practices.
