Marketo VP Mike Telem: ABM Lets You Dust Off Old Marketing Techniques

“Account-based marketing is all about targeting key accounts. It’s a strategy for marketers to focus most of their efforts on key accounts,” said Mike Telem, vice president of product marketing at Marketo. “In most B2B businesses, you have a small number of accounts that are the most valuable. So it makes perfect sense that focusing on those accounts provides a better return on investment. Instead of generating a lot of leads and then qualifying them, you define your key accounts and go after them.”

Mozilla Launches Free Ad Blocker for iOS 9

Mozilla on Monday launched Focus by Firefox, a free ad blocker for Safari users on iOS 9. It lets users block the same trackers blocked by Private Browsing with Tracking Protection in Firefox for the Windows, Mac, Linux and Android platforms. The protection is based on Disconnect’s open source block list. Focus by Firefox doesn’t work with Firefox for iOS because Apple doesn’t make content blocking available to third-party browsers on iOS, Mozilla said. It’s exploring ways to provide Focus on Firefox for iOS.

The Wireless Industry Is Changing Again

Wireless is one of the strongest industries today. However, it continues to change. Every few years, the focus changes and the industry goes in new directions. It happened a few years ago with the iPhone and Android. Now change is happening once again. The wireless industry growth wave is changing. It is cresting. That is not a problem for the network and handset companies that are creating the next growth waves to ride. The problem is for companies that don’t recognize what is happening.

Will Google Win the Alphabet Game?

Earlier this week I planned to focus this column on saying farewell to Google+. Then Google suddenly announced something much bigger. It is splitting itself into several different companies under one master brand called “Alphabet.” Splitting up is what Google has needed to do for several years. The idea of creating a master brand makes enormous sense for a company like Google, which is an octopus with many arms. However, it is only right if it is done correctly. Some companies attempt it and win big time, but others fail.

Inside iOS 9: Apple's Maps app gets smarter with automatic directions based on user habits

A major focus for Apple in building iOS 9 is making it even easier to access the information you need, in part by predicting what you want before you unlock your phone. One way the upcoming operating system update will do that is by knowing when you get into your car, and predicting where you’re probably planning to drive.
