Everywhere you look, organizations are shifting their software acquisition preferences and policies away from traditional, on-premises legacy applications to a new generation of on-demand SaaS solutions. Although I was an early advocate of SaaS, I’m becoming concerned that many leading SaaS vendors and their enterprise customers are taking actions that significantly compromise the fundamental value of SaaS. As the old adage goes, “the more things change, the more they remain the same.”

Chimpanzee smashes drone to the ground at Dutch zoo

Drones seem to be everywhere these days — even at zoos. In one viral video that has been making the rounds, a chimpanzee is seen knocking a surveillance drone down to the ground at the Royal Burgers’ Zoo in the Netherlands.

Chinese company builds first 3D-printed apartment building, mansion

3D printers are everywhere. They have been used to construct everything from NASA rocket engine parts to even cremation urns, and now one Chinese company is using 3D printers in architecture. Chinese high-tech construction company WinSun has unveiled a five-storey apartment complex and an 11,840 square foot villa at the Suzhou Industrial Park in Suzhou, China. After using its 3D printing technology to help construct 10 full-sized houses in just one day, the company’s latest architectural achievement marks its two largest buildings yet.
