Hewlett Packard Enterprise reportedly has allowed experts working with Russia to review the source code of cybersecurity software that is used by the U.S. Defense Department. The Pentagon uses HPE’s ArcSight software to protect sensitive computer networks. The review of its code was conducted by Russian firm Echelon on behalf of a Russian defense agency that deals with cybersecurity issues. “All testing was done in HPE controlled sites and entirely under the supervision of HPE’s cybersecurity specialists,” HPE said.

Enterprise SaaS Market Skyrockets: Report

The enterprise SaaS market grew 31 percent year over year, totaling almost $15 billion in revenue in Q2 2017, according to Synergy Research. Collaboration was the highest growth segment. Microsoft is the clear leader in overall enterprise SaaS revenues, having overtaken Salesforce a year ago. Microsoft’s acquisition last year of LinkedIn gave its SaaS operations a significant boost. “Across its whole business, Microsoft has a good cloud-oriented vision in place and is executing strongly,” said John Dinsdale, chief analyst at Synergy Research.

LinkedIn has launched an enterprise edition of its Sales Navigator product that lets users send 50 emails on LinkedIn a month; adds Single Sign-On and other management features; and introduces TeamLink Extend, a tool that pools the networks of all the Sales Navigator users in an enterprise. HPE to Buy One-Time Rising Star Nimble for $1B Cash

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has announced a deal to acquire flash storage firm Nimble Storage, once viewed as a darling of Wall Street, for $12.50 a share in cash, or $1 billion. HPE also agreed to assume or pay out Nimble Storage’s unvested equity awards, which are valued at $200 million. Upon completion of the deal, Nimble Storage will merge with a unit of HPE and become a subsidiary of the company. The Nimble Storage acquisition is meant to strengthen the breadth of HPE’s offerings as it competes in the mid-to-high end flash storage market.

Atlassian Scoops Up Trello for $425 Million

Windows 10 Enterprise E3 in CSP is “basically the OS wrapped with security and management delivered as a subscription,” said Rob Enderle, principal analyst at the Enderle Group.
