SoftBank on Thursday announced that it will acquire robotics company Boston Dynamics from Alphabet, parent company of Google. Softbank also agreed to buy robotics firm Schaft as part of the same deal. SoftBank Robotics is the company’s subsidiary that focuses on the development, sales and maintenance of humanoid and service robots. “Smart robotics are going to be a key driver of the next stage of the information revolution,” said SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son.”

Microsoft Adds Muscle to Dynamics 365


Microsoft last week shared new information about its upcoming Dynamics 365 cloud service: the addition of 100 new apps; the inclusion of Solution Integrator partners in Appsource; the division of apps and features into Enterprise and Business Editions, the latter for SMBs; and a new subscription model. Many of the new capabilities will be available in both editions when Dynamics 365 rolls out on Nov. 1. With the new subscription model, customers can get apps on a per app, per-user basis.

Microsoft Dynamics Edges Out Salesforce, Oracle for HP Win


Just two months after announcing the integration of its CRM and ERP platform under the Microsoft Dynamics 365 umbrella, Microsoft this week announced a six-year agreement to deploy the service to HP Inc.’s ranks. HootSuite Adds Social Chops to Microsoft Dynamics CRM


Hootsuite on Tuesday announced an integration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Yammer. Microsoft Hands Cloud Data Control to German Trustee


Microsoft on Wednesday said it would offer its Azure, Office 365 and Dynamics CRM cloud services to business clients using two Germany-based data centers hosted by a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom. The arrangement will protect the integrity and privacy of customer data, the company said. The data centers, located in Magdeburg and Franfkurt am Main, will be under the control of T-Systems, a unit of Deutsche Telekom, which will act as data trustee and have control over all access to the data, Microsoft said.
