The Commerce Connect software is now available for Epicor Eclipse, a cloud-based platform geared toward helping companies deploy rich B2B and B2C solutions to drive efficiencies along their distribution chain. “Today e-commerce is more than adding an online store to a website,” said VP Sanjay Kumar.

Brightpearl, which offers a cloud-based retail management system for mid-sized retailers and wholesalers, on Wednesday launched a new Enterprise Partner Program. The company aims to build out its partner ecosystem to deploy an end-to-end management service for omnichannel retailers as an alternative to traditional enterprise resource planning systems. Brightpearl is seeking technology providers specializing in commerce, electronic data interchange, accounting, point of sale, logistics, shipping and inventory, and marketplaces.

AWS Unveils Chime Conferencing Service


AWS on Tuesday introduced Amazon Chime, a cloud-based unified communications offering that lets users engage in high-quality audio and HD video meetings across Windows and Mac desktops, and iOS and Android mobile devices. Companies just have to download the app; they don’t need to make upfront investments in hardware or software. Users can switch seamlessly between desktop and mobile apps as needed, even in mid-conference. Participants click a button on the Chime app to join a meeting instead of dialing a number then entering a PIN.

New CEO to Guide FinancialForce's Ambitious Growth Plans


Cloud-based ERP firm FinancialForce on Friday named a new CEO, Tod Nielsen, who previously served as executive vice president of platform at Salesforce. Nielsen takes the helm from FinancialForce founder Jeremy Roche, who remains a major shareholder in the company. He will stay on as special advisor to the management team and work with FinancialForce investor Unit4 in an executive position. Roche’s home base is in the UK. Salesforce is another investor in FinancialForce, which builds its applications on the Salesforce platform.

Microsoft, SAP Deepen Partnership to Blend Cloud Offerings


Microsoft and SAP have announced plans to integrate their cloud-based systems, allowing the SAP HANA database to work with Microsoft Azure, which will enable Office 365 to communicate directly with SAP enterprise apps. DoD Ramps Up Security as It Drifts Toward Cloud


DoD is committed to pursuing cloud-based services and steadily has been improving its capabilities to utilize the technology. The latest evidence of its embracing the cloud is approval of a protocol that will facilitate the use of the technology at higher security levels. The department’s Defense Information Systems Agency has granted provisional authorization for the use of cloud services to levels 3 to 5 of its Cloud Security Model. DISA’s authorization, revealed last month by Amazon Web Services, applies to the AWS GovCloud offering.
