Amazon's Prime Air Brand Takes Flight

Amazon unveiled its first Prime Air plane during the Boeing Seafair Air Show in Seattle. The company has undertaken an ambitious effort to gain control of its massive distribution network for delivery of goods to its retail customers. The plane, dubbed “Amazon One,” is a Boeing 767-300 operated by Atlas Air. Atlas and ATSG have partnered with Amazon to fly a total of 40 cargo planes under separate agreements. Amazon currently has a total of 11 cargo planes in service on flights in the U.S., with additional aircraft schedule for introduction.

Move Over, FedEx – Here Comes Amazon

Amazon has been negotiating a lease for 20 Boeing 767 jets as it executes on plans to start its own air cargo business, according to recent reports. It launched a pilot of the service in Wilmington, Ohio, where Air Transport Services Group, or ATSG, has been managing airfreight on Amazon’s behalf. ATSG reportedly moved into the Wilmington Air Park under contract with an unnamed company. That company was shipping freight to Allentown, Pennsylvania; Ontario and Oakland, California; and Tampa, Florida.

Boeing Picks BlackBerry to Brace Black's Security

Boeing has enlisted BlackBerry to help bolster the security of its Black smartphone, BlackBerry CEO John Chen said Friday during the company’s earnings call. “Boeing is collaborating with BlackBerry to provide secure mobile solutions for Android devices utilizing their BES-12 platform,” confirmed Boeing spokesperson Andrew Lee.
