Atlassian has announced the development of Stride, a new Slack-like workplace tool designed to streamline the communication process for business users. Stride enables teams to take action via both a smart text-based messaging service and a fully featured video and audio service. The latter functionality is made available thanks to Atlassian’s recent acquisition of Jitsi. The idea is to allow team members to convene instantly with built-in voice and video meetings that integrate conversations with collaborative tools.

Atlassian Scoops Up Trello for $425 Million


Atlassian, the parent company behind the Jira enterprise tracking and HipChat communication apps, on Monday announced a deal to acquire Trello, the developer of a cloud-based collaboration app for enterprise teams and personal use. Atlassian will fork over $425 million– $360 million in cash and the rest in stock. Founded five years ago at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco, Trello provides software that includes digital whiteboards and virtual sticky notes to help customers collaborate on a wide range of projects.

Atlassian Surges in Eye-Popping IPO


Atlassian last week exceeded expectations with its initial public offering, beginning trading at more than $27 per share, about 30 percent higher than the $21 issue price. That means the company — trading under the ticker “TEAM” — was valued at about $5.6 billion Thursday. Atlassian’s shares closed at $27.78. The company, founded in 2002, is best known for its Jira and HipChat products. It has been profitable for the past 10 years. Code.org and The Daily Telegraph are among the 50,000 organizations in 160 countries using its products.
