Many of our clients refer to this as "telephone and data cabling" or "wiring", or "drops". The phrase "Structured Cabling" is an industry term that refers to this and much more. The concept of cabling being "Structured" refers to industry accepted standards in which information outlets may be installed to provide, voice, data, and video services independent of the manufacturer, vendor, or application. The applications can handle fax, Internet, multi-line telephones, security cameras, coaxial cable and satellite video distribution, audio distribution, and as technology changes it will provide a structure for more.

Our motto for structured cabling is to be well wired. We've made service calls to countless homeowners residences and small business owners place of work and we find that the original structured media vendor cut corners. Too often this includes to major deficiencies: 1) the client does not have enough wiring to support the technology in a given room, and 2) the client is unable to easily add wiring to the deficient room. We solve both of these issues by "over-wiring" each drop during our installations - We make sure that every drop box and run back to the central media center is used to its full potential. We do not specialize in fiber optic installation, but we do work closely with consultants that do. We'll design installations to utilize fiber when necessary and have our friends from one of several local contracting groups come in and install the fiber itself. Once they've terminated the long runs that are needed, we'll go ahead and take back over with the more technical aspects of the project - making everything work together.

Fiber Optic cabling provides a far greater bandwidth than copper and is typically used for backbone connection between localized networking equipment and is increasingly becoming the preferred choice for high quality and reliable analog and digital communications.

Sound masking provides voice privacy, confidentiality, and protection of proprietary information. Studies indicate employee productivity increases up to 15% after installation of sound masking. How is this possible? Sound masking greatly diminishes distractions by extraneous noises in the open workplace allowing employees to concentrate more of their time on the task before them! It provides a random sound that does not carry information, and is non-directional and harmoniously uniform.

Most structured cabling contractors spend a great deal of time discussing what they will install for their clients and rightfully so. However, the issue of abandoned cable removal is often unduly overlooked.

According to estimates, there is over 45 billion feet of plenum cable in place in buildings. Since the release of the 2002 version of the National Electrical Code removal of abandoned cabling has been a code requirement. This is generally only enforced during a remodel / renovation project in which building permits are filed and ceilings are inspected.

Old and abandoned cables take up valuable space in ceilings, ducts and telecom closets, making other installs (new technology, moves and rearrangements, etc.) more cumbersome and in some cases degrading network performance.

Additionally, the accumulation of miles and miles of cabling left in the ceilings and walls of facilities has become a major concern for life safety over the past ten years. Cables that are abandoned in ceilings, riser systems, and air handling systems are a source for fueling fire, smoke and sub lethal toxic fumes that can incapacitate.

Our abatement service is free in most cases. We're able to do this because 1) sometimes we'll use your old cables to pull through our new cabling, and 2) we're able to recoup some of our abatement expenses by selling your old wiring to scrap metal companies.
