Sony HVR V1U playback issue

when i press play on my camera to watch my footage on the lcd i get a blue screen and no footage, but if i press fastforward, rewind or slow motion the footage appears. Why is this happening and how can i get the footage to appear when I press play for normal playback. Thanks, Sim
