Almost, Maine Northern Lights, by proVanceTek

Almost, Maine Northern Lights, by proVanceTek

On a cold, clear, moonless Friday night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Almost, Maine inventively explores the mysteries of the human heart, touching us with laughter, heartbreak and hope.

proVanceTek worked with Hilliard Davidson High School Theatre's Technical Director to create a collapsible, internationally traveling, Northern Lights backdrop for the school's 2009-2010 winter production. The show was first performed January 29 & 30, but will be traveling to Edinburgh, Scotland.

Almost, Maine is the production that Hilliard Davidson High School will be traveling to Edinburgh, Scotland, in August 2010 to be presented in the American High School Theatre Festival as part of The Fringe Festival.

Broadcast Hilliard Davidson High School Events in Auditorium to Entire Building

Broadcast Hilliard Davidson High School Events in Auditorium to Entire Building

For years Hilliard Davidson High School has been contracting out jobs to temporarily run coax from their auditorium to their High School's CCTV head end. We were contracted to enable the staff to access this technology for themselves.

We took existing technology in the auditorium and in their television studio and configured it such that any video feed from their matrix switcher in their auditorium and any audio feed from their sound console in their auditorium can be sent over existing in wall wiring (installed as a part of the Ohio SchoolNet program a few years back) to their television studio. From there, a simple switch is toggled and the feed from the auditorium is instantly broadcast to the entire building.

Sound and Lighting Tech for Hilliard Five By Design Concert

Five By Design

Five By Design is one of the nation's leading performing arts and symphony pops attractions, the Minneapolis-based vocal quintet is the creative talent behind musical retrospectives of Radio Days, Club Swing, Stay Tuned, and A Winter's Evening.

The Hilliard Arts Council is bringing "Five By Design," a group of five singers for a 7:00pm February 10, 2008 performance at the Hilliard Davidson Performing Arts Center.

The Hilliard Arts Council brought in Robert Nelson Vance, owner of proVanceTek, as an outside consultant and contractor, in 2005 when Five By Design came to Hilliard the first time. He was once again asked back this year.

Several visits have already been made to Davidson Theatre to hang and focus lighting for the event. Further assistance for the upcoming Sunday evening performance will include the hanging and focusing of additional lighting instruments and the load-in and interfacing of Five By Design sound equipment.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for senior citizens and students. In order to hopefully fill the auditorium for this performance there is a $5 discount for all tickets ordered by January 20, 2007. Tickets can be ordered by calling 527-4407 or by emailing Ken Brenneman.

Hilliard Davidson High School Theatre Website Moved and Redesigned

Hilliard Davidson High School Theatre Website Moved and Redesigned

Hilliard Davidson High School Drama Boosters launched the Davidson Theatre website with a different web hosting firm several years ago. The site design was old and clunky in appearance and was lacking a couple features that they were looking for in a website - so, they were looking to re-design the site. proVanceTek worked with Davidson Theatre to design a site similar in color scheme and layout, but with a slightly more modern feel.

Before re-designing the site, proVanceTek successfully migrated the website SQL database to the proVanceTek web server preserving all data. After the site had successfully been migrated to its new home, proVanceTek proceeded to create a new Drupal theme for the website. The new theme was released earlier today and Davidson Theatre faculty are once again happy customers!

Theatrical Lighting Assistance For Hilliard Davidson High School

Theatrical Lighting Assistance For Hilliard Davidson High School

Robert Nelson Vance, owner or proVanceTek, received a phone call asking if we had any availability to help prepare the Hilliard Davidson Performing Arts Center for a touring show to be brought in by the Hilliard Arts Council this weekend.

Five By Design, a touring, Minneapolis-based, vocal quintet sent Hilliard Davidsona technical rider that required a significant number of lighting instruments to be hung and focused before they arrived.

We worked with the Hilliard Davidson High School Technical Director to hang and focus a GI (general illumination) light plot for the upcoming school related events. Then we hung and focused the specials that were required for the touring show.

We should make note that this is usually work that's entirely done by high school students as a part of the Hilliard Davidson technical theatre program. Unfortunately, due to time restraints and the number of other programs to schedule around, this technical work needed to be done quickly and precisely. Infact, Hilliard Davidson has hosted a number of touring Broadway shows over the years, where stagehand positions have always been entirely staffed by students. This time, however, there simply wasn't enough time available for this to be another educational experience for the students - hence why we were contacted.
