proVanceTek goes Green for 2009!

We've calculated the impact of everything that proVanceTek uses and leaves behind in the course of our daily work. All of the resources that we use - paper in the office, electricity for our servers, even the gas in our cars that bring us to the office - all calculated to what's referred to as our carbon footprint.

There are two basic steps for us to meet the traditional Boy Scout motto of "leave-no-trace". First we have made a conscious effort to reduce the amount of waste we produce, recycle as much of our waste as we can, and increase our use of items that are manufactured from recycled materials. Because it's not a practical business strategy to stop using electricity, gas, water, offices, equipment, supplies, paper and other items that effect the environment, we've implemented a second step, carbon offsetting. Offsetting our carbon footprint will occur via the following two methods:

1. The purchase of Carbon Offset Credits from CarbonFund.org help support their numerous carbon offsetting projects. Through these projects, precious environmental resources are being saved.
2. For $100 that proVanceTek invoices for the year of 2009, we'll donate one tree to American Forests. The organization is a highly ranked non-profit, dedicated to planting trees for environmental restoration. Some estimates indicate that it takes about five trees to offset one human's carbon footprint per year.
