Walkathon Fundraising Web Application for Beating Myeloma

Walkathon Fundraising Web Application for Beating Myeloma

Beating Myeloma, an existing proVanceTek client, requested that we help them design a web based application for a fundraising project of theirs.

The event is to be similar to the well known Race for the Cure combined with the St. Jude Up 'til Dawn "50 Names Fast" program. The Second Annual Galen Foundation Walk the Walk, Talk the Talkathon is to take place Saturday, June 21st, 2008 from 10am to noon at the Chagrin Falls High School track.

Because their existing website is maintained in Drupal, we needed to design something for the CMS so it would be transparent to the end user. We utilized existing Drupal modules that did things that were similar to what we needed and modified them where necessary.

The web application needed to serve a number of functionalities. It needed to include a hierarchical role structure for various roles of staff and volunteers to accomplish various tasks. It needed to include a system that would allow the staff to invite individuals via email to become volunteers and automatically promote their role appropriately once they accepted. It needed to allow staff and volunteers to send email invitations to potential sponsors / donors. It needed the ability to keep track of sponsorship pledges and donations that had been made. It needed the ability to send out automated emails and mass contact emails to a variety of categorized mailing lists. It includes other features such as a fundraising thermometer and a display of names of recent donors. As you can tell, it needed to be feature rich.
